Image from WikipediaThere are those who identify with nooses, and personify them as the dark history of America.  I’m from an ethnicity that sees tarring and feathering as the ultimate symbol of savagery in the new world.  The idea that someone would cover another in boiling tar and then cover him with feathers is way beyond waterboarding in my book.  So HBO has its John Adams miniseries out, and that has brought tarring and feathering back to the fore.  I hope they are accurate enough to keep the good guys good and the bad guys bad, and not to fall into the Hollywood default of bastardizing history willy nilly in another attempt to make George Bush look bad.  Let’s hope David McCullough keeps his integrity up.
